Does CBD Hemp Oil Truly Work

In the last few years, there have been significant scientific breakthroughs in CBD research. Now with dozens of studies providing evidence that CBD hemp oil’s do have the ability to relieve symptoms for a wide range of illnesses. A few of these illnesses include schizophrenia, anxiety, cancer, heart disease, and many more!

Many of the studies carried out on CBD in the last decade have centered around its prolific use as an anticonvulsant for those with serious forms of epilepsy. However, much more research has been done with CBD about treating an array of other ailments.

Does CBD Hemp Oil Truly Work?

From ENDOCA:

The Endocannabinoid System (ECS) is one of the most important physiological systems involved in establishing and maintaining human health in the body. Cannabidiol interacts with this system by attaching to ECS receptors throughout the body, instigating homeostasis.

How does it do this?

Well to start, cannabinoid receptors CB1 and CB2 work as a monitoring, messaging and mediating system. When there are enough CB1 and CB2 receptors, they can make sure that the endocannabinoids, which are cannabinoids made by the body itself, are going to where they are needed. So, when there is an imbalance within the body, your endocannabinoids work to rectify this imbalance via these receptors.

Sometimes though, our body needs a little extra help, especially if there is a major imbalance present due to stress, illness or trauma. This is where CBD comes in. CBD is a phytocannabinoid, meaning it is a cannabinoid found within plants, which attaches to the cannabinoid receptors in our body, promoting balance and healing naturally.

In essence, rather than the body directly utilizing the phytocannabinoids that come from CBD, hemp oil research suggests that cannabidiol prompts the body to use more of its own endocannabinoids that are already present. A beautiful symbiotic partnership. But does CBD really work? In the case of epilepsy, it’s certainly shown massive benefits.”

Does CBD Really Work?

In a report by The Washington Post, published in December 2016, the significant effects of CBD were given a human face. Enter Jackson Leyden, a healthy and normal boy till the age of eight when he started having daily seizures. His parents took him to more than 20 doctors across the U.S. and during the course of two years, he was hospitalized more than 50 times. He was subsequently exposed to a plethora of different medications – none of which were able to bring him the relief he sought.

Jackson was one of the lucky ones though. In 2014, Jackson received his first medical marijuana treatment. The Laydens were fortuitous enough to find a doctor who was prepared to prescribe CBD oil, and within days, Jackson’s seizures reduced, and he very rarely had another afterward.

Relieved just to have found a treatment that worked, they were even more exalted to find that they were also able to discontinue the other medications he was on after taking CBD. The cannabis was helping to both strengthen neural pathways in his brain, while pretty much completely stopping any more seizures and any further damage.

He’s not the only one either. CBD is quickly becoming the go-to treatment for different forms of epilepsy due to its incredible efficacy and is comparatively void of negative, unwanted side-effects.

A report by the Independent showcased the true story of Billy Caldwell, an 11-year-old boy from the U.K. – just another one of thousands who found relief with the use of CBD oil. Billy suffered up to 100 seizures a day and was ultimately dying from his illness. He was diagnosed with intractable epilepsy, meaning neither diet or medicine would help with the amount or the severity of his seizures. He began treatment in 2016 in the U.S., where his family could treat him legally.

This allowed them to bypass harsh U.K. laws without the looming threat of incarceration; which, unfortunately, many gamble with when using CBD to treat illnesses in countries where it is prohibited. Billy’s mother Charlotte Caldwell has found ineffable relief, reporting that Billy had had no seizures in over 300 days, which was “incredible because one seizure can kill him,” she said.

Testing

Because cannabis has a Schedule 1 classification, there are specific regulatory barriers that impede the advancement of cannabis, cannabinoid, and CBD hemp oil research, stunting and limiting much of the research and therapeutic possibilities of this natural resource.

However, the hemp oil studies that focus on cannabis as a whole plant say that THC certainly helps in treating nausea and pain in cancer patients, helping these patients regain their appetite during chemotherapy treatments. Now, researchers are finding that CBD may have similar properties to these.
